DIY Resin Phone Stand with EasyCast Epoxy - Resin Crafts Blog (2024)

Like it or not, our cellphones are essential these days. Misplace your phone and you’re in trouble! Because of that, we highly recommend that you make a DIY resin phone stand with EasyCast Clear Casting Epoxy so that your phone has a designated spot where you can always find it.

Hi, Resin Crafters, it’s Bre from Average But Inspired, and I’m excited to be back on Resin Crafts Blog sharing this fun resin phone stand project. I love this project because it’s perfect for any stage resin artist: beginners can create the simple version shown in this post, and advanced resin crafters can make a more elaborate version. EasyCast is a very easy to use 1 to 1 epoxy that can even be used for deeper pours when poured in layers.

How to Make a Resin Phone Stand with EasyCast

For this DIY phone stand, I used a combination of beautiful PolyColor Resin Powders to create an iridescent stone look. This phone holder almost looks like granite – it’s such a cool effect!

To begin, spray the phone stand silicone mold with ETI Mold Release and Conditioner. This product is great because it ensures that the resin will come out of the silicone mold easily and without any sticking. Once sprayed, let the mold sit for several minutes until the Mold Release has dried.

Next, get to work mixing the EasyCast Clear Casting Epoxy. For a phone stand mold like the one I used, you’ll mix 8 ounces total. Working with your protective eyewear and gloves on, pour four ounces of resin into a mixing cup, and four ounces of hardener into the same cup. Stir for two minutes.

Then pour that mixture into another mixing cup and stir for one minute.

Once the EasyCast is fully mixed, divide the resin amongst three small mixing cups. Place a small amount of PolyColor Resin Powder into each of the small mixing cups: I used Metallic Black, Metallic White, and Silver. Stir each of the colors to mix them with the resin. In order to get the speckled or stone look I created, make sure to leave a small amount of powder seemingly unmixed in each of the cups.

Leave the remaining resin in the large mixing cup.

Pour the mixed resin into the phone stand mold in the following order: Metallic White, Silver, Metallic Black, and then uncolored resin to level off the mold.

Use a popsicle stick or stirring stick to lightly swirl the colors. Be careful not to over-swirl. You don’t want to disturb the color layers too much.

Let the resin sit for approximately 15 minutes, and then check it for bubbles. One great thing about EasyCast Clear Casting Epoxy is that it is formulated to degas on its own. If you see a lot of bubbles, however, it’s a good idea to gently pop them by running a hair dryer or heat gun over them, or by gently blowing on them with a straw.

Set the filled mold aside to dry in a place where it won’t get dust or debris on it, and let it harden. It will be hard in 24 hours and fully cured within 72 hours, ready for removal from the mold.

Once the resin phone stand is fully cured, add a name or monogram to it with vinyl or even with stickers!

With that, your DIY phone stand is finished. And hey, if you just so happen to lose your phone (even though we told you not to!), use this phone holder as a business card holder!
