How to Make Whipped Soap at Home in 20 minutes or Less

Whipped Soap Recipe

This recipe is super simple and will make roughly 10 soaps.

Ingredients & Equipment:

• Whipped soap base
• Essential oils
• Moisturising oil
• Natural soap dye
• Kitchen stand mixer or hand mixer
• Mixing bowl (if using a hand mixer)
• Spatula
• Piping bag and attachments
• Glass jars for storage (mason jars are ideal)

Directions:

STEP 1:Prepare Your Worktop & Equipment

Before you begin wash all equipment including utensils in warm soapy water.

Be sure to dry thoroughly with a clean dry cloth.

It’s important that, as well as your equipment, your worktop is also super clean.

Use a suitable natural anti-bacterial surface cleaner to clean your surface and dry with a reusable cloth of unpaper towel.

STEP 2:Get the Whipped Soap Base Ready

For the whipped soap base we recommend Stephenson Foaming Bath Butter.

This soap base is both Paraben-Free and Propylene Glycol Freer.

Simply remove the bath butter from the tub, separate into small pieces and place in the bowl.

Using the mixer or hand mixer beat the soap base until you get your desired consistency – ideally like whipped cream.

STEP 3: Get Creative

Now comes the creative part where you can add whichever colour and fragrance you want to.

It’s worth adding the fragrance first, we’ll see why in a moment.

You can of course choose to skip adding fragrance and leave the mixer in it’s natural form however if you’d prefer your whipped soap to have a lovely smell the go ahead and add some essential oil to the mixture.

The scent you choose is entirely your preference however it’s worth noting not to over complicate by adding many different types. As you make more whipped soap you’ll get more experienced in what works and what doesn’t.

Add a small amount of Grapeseed Moisturising Oil or similar to the mixture to increase the moisturising properties of your soap.

Once again beat the mixture for a couple of minutes or until the oils have disappeared.

In terms of colour choose a natural soap dye.

There is now a wealth of options to choose from on the market covering all the colours of the rainbow.

All products are different so please read the label and add as much dye as needed.

Depending on the desired result either use the mixer again to get a solid colour throughout or fold to get a more uneven effect.

STEP 4: It’s Ready to Enjoy

The last step in this simple process is to enjoy the whipped soap you’ve made in a long relaxing bath.

The mixture can be divided and stored in small jars for use later on and we find using a pipping bag can add a really nice effect.

So much so that we often give our whipped soap away as presents to friends and family.
